Almost all of the Northumberland County Forest is located on the Oak Ridges Moraine, which is regulated provincially by the Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan.

We manage the removal of invasive exotic species as well as the rare remnant Black Oak Woodland, Savannah and sand barren.

Large forests are very valuable for conservation. They provide habitat for species that depend on large forests and they are often the remaining refuges for rare and at-risk habitats, vegetation and wildlife.
Vegetation and wildlife surveys document changes as the Forest’s lands mature and ensure that we have information-based goals.
