Student Assistant, Community Paramedicine

Currently, we are looking to fill the following student vacancy:

Student Assistant, Community Paramedicine

  • Contract, full-time
  • May 4, 2026, to August 28, 2026
  • Hourly rate: $18.75 – $20.29 (35 hours per week)
  • Work Location: 600 William Street, Cobourg

Reporting to the Deputy Chief, Community Paramedicine (CP), you will utilize your strong organizational, time management, and customer service skills to provide assistance primarily to the Community Paramedicine administration team. You will work with staff to complete day to day tasks in an administrative capacity.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Reconciling gas receipts for the department vehicles;
  • Recording activities with community partners for CP Virtual Library;
  • Editing video recordings to publish to Virtual Library;
  • Expanding Virtual Library resources promoting general wellness;
  • Preparing equipment for Community Paramedicine patients;
  • Creating profiles and making phone calls to new CP patients;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & skills

  • Post-secondary education in a Business or Administration program is preferred.
  • Familiarity with recording devices and editing software.
  • You must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of Northumberland County Paramedic Services and the Community Paramedicine program is an asset.
  • Ability to work the occasional evening / weekend.
  • You must be a fully licensed Class G driver and have appropriate safety footwear.

An acceptable driver’s abstract (3-year uncertified driver’s record) must be submitted with your application. Resumes submitted without an acceptable driver’s abstract will not be reviewed.

Eligibility requirements

A student is defined as a person between the ages of 18-30 at the start of the employment; registered as a full-time student in the current academic year (2025/2026) and intends to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year (2026/2027). As a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment, you are legally entitled to work in Canada. You must be available to work from May 4 to August 28, 2026.
