Cobourg, ON – May 20,  2026 – Northumberland County Community & Social Services, in partnership with local community and government agencies, is continuing with its successful Identification and Wellness Clinics for a third year, helping residents access and update essential identification. This ongoing initiative aims to reduce barriers and improve access to services that rely in valid ID, including income supports, housing, health care, and employment opportunities.

The first clinic will be held in the Municipality of Port Hope on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church (131 Walton Street, Port Hope). There will also be clinics in the Municipality of Brighton and the Town of Cobourg later this year.

For many residents, obtaining or replacing identification can involve multiple steps, long wait times and coordination between several offices. These clinics bring key service providers together in a single, accessible setting to simplify the process and provide direct, in-person assistance.

“We know obtaining or replacing identification can be a significant barrier for many residents, especially when multiple appointments and agencies are involved,” says County Community and Social Services Client Services Manager Jennifer Glover. “These clinics are designed to simplify that experience by offering coordinated, in-person support in one place, helping people access the documents and services the need more quicky and with greater ease.”

The clinic will offer access to a range of participating partners and services, including:

  • Northumberland County Community & Social Services:Application assistance for Ontario Works and other supports.
  • Service Ontario:Assistance with health cards, address changes, and Ontario Photo Card applications.
  • Northumberland Help & Legal Centre: Assistance with program information, birth certificate applications, and fee waiver program.
  • Fleming College Academic Upgrading: Flexible skills on-demand and academic upgrading programs.
  • MP Phillip Lawerence Constituency Office: Assistance with federal programs, including Permanent Residency Cards, passports, and federal benefit programs.
  • Ontario Health Team of Northumberland: Information on connecting to local primary care (physician and Nurse Practitioner) resources.

These clinics are open to all community members. Whether individuals are replacing lost identification or seeking connections to local supports, the event is intended to provide straightforward, coordinated access to multiple services in one location.

Pre-registration is available through the County’s online form at Northumberland.ca/IDClinic and is encouraged to help manage attendance and wait times. However, registration is not required, and walk-in participation will be accommodated.
