Cobourg, ON – June 18 – Northumberland County is inviting residents to attend upcoming public information sessions to learn more about two major infrastructure projects planned for this summer: the Trent River Bridge rehabilitation on County Road 30 and the Salt Creek Culvert replacement on County Road 25.

The sessions will provide an opportunity for residents to learn about the planned construction, timelines, traffic impacts, detour routes, and how the work will be managed to support safety and minimize disruption.

Trent River Bridge Rehabilitation Project

The Trent River Bridge is located on County Road 30, approximately 300 metres south of Peterborough County Road 42, and serves as an important connection for residents, businesses, and visitors travelling through the area.

Following ongoing inspections and engineering assessments, rehabilitation work will be done to extend the service life of the bridge.

Trent River Bridge Closure Detour

Construction is expected to begin in early July 2026 and continue until approximately September 25, 2026.

The project includes:

  • Removal and reconstruction of the bridge approach slabs, sleeper slabs, and expansion joints;
  • Concrete repairs to sections of the bridge deck, sidewalk, and curb; and
  • Waterproofing and paving work on the existing concrete deck.

To safely complete the work, the bridge will be fully closed to traffic during construction. Signed detour routes will be in place for local traffic and heavy trucks.
