Letter from the County Warden

This Annual Report reflects another year of meaningful progress for Northumberland County. Together with County Council, our member municipalities, community partners, and dedicated staff, we continued advancing the priorities that matter most to our residents while responding to the growing complexity of municipal government.

Across Ontario, municipalities are being called upon to deliver more services than ever before. From housing and infrastructure to health, childcare, and homelessness, local governments are increasingly at the forefront of addressing some of our communities’ greatest challenges. While these responsibilities continue to grow, so too does the need for sustainable partnerships and predictable funding from upper levels of government. We will continue to advocate for the resources our communities need to succeed.

Despite these challenges, there is much to celebrate. Guided by our 2023-2027 Community Strategic Plan, we have continued investing in strong communities, supporting economic opportunity, maintaining critical infrastructure, and improving the services residents rely on every day.

These accomplishments would not be possible without the extraordinary commitment of County staff. Their professionalism, innovation, and dedication to public service are evident in every program delivered and every project completed.

I am proud of what we have achieved together and confident that, through continued collaboration and a shared vision, we will continue building a strong, resilient, and vibrant future for Northumberland County.
