Whereas mental health is fundamental to overall health and well-being, shaping how individuals think, feel, connect with others, and navigate the challenges of everyday life; and

Whereas World Mental Health Day, observed annually on October 10, provides an opportunity to raise awareness, foster understanding, and encourage meaningful action to support mental health and well-being; and

Whereas promoting mental health requires accessible, inclusive, and equitable supports that recognize the diverse needs and experiences of individuals throughout our communities, while reducing stigma and encouraging people to seek help when needed; and

Whereas Northumberland County recognizes and values the contribution of mental health professionals, caregivers, community organizations, advocates, and individuals with lived experience who work every day to strengthen mental health supports, promote recovery, and build healthier communities; and

Whereas Northumberland County remains committed to fostering a compassionate, connected, and inclusive community where mental health is valued, conversations about mental well-being are welcomed, and every person has the opportunity to feel supported, respected, and empowered to thrive;

Now Therefore Be It Resolved That I, Warden Robert Crate, on behalf of Northumberland County Council do hereby proclaim October 10, 2026 to be ‘World Mental Health Day’ in Northumberland County.”

Dated this 16th day of September, 2026
