Proclamation – Pride Month, June 2026

“Whereas June is recognized in Canada and internationally as Pride Month, a time to honour diversity, champion inclusion, and celebrate the meaningful contributions of the 2SLGBTQI+ community to the social, cultural, and economic vitality of our society; and

Whereas Pride Month provides an opportunity to acknowledge the courage, resilience, and advocacy of 2SLGBTQI+ individuals, recognizing the progress achieved while reaffirming our dedication to creating safe, inclusive, and welcoming environments for everyone; and

Whereas this month serves as a reminder of the ongoing responsibility to challenge discrimination, foster equality, and promote awareness and education to protect and advance the rights, dignity, and well-being of 2SLGBTQI+ people in our community and beyond;

Now Therefore Be It Resolved That I, Warden Robert Crate, on behalf of Northumberland County Council do hereby proclaim June 2026 to be ‘Pride Month’ in Northumberland County.”
