“Whereas volunteers play an essential role in the vitality of our communities, selflessly offering their time, talents, and compassion to support others and strengthen community life; and
Whereas Volunteers across Northumberland County contribute in countless ways, including mentoring youth, caring for natural spaces, enhancing services for patients and clients, supporting individuals experiencing isolation, advancing equity and inclusion, and fundraising for charitable and non-profit organizations; and
Whereas the collective efforts of volunteers – representing diverse ages, backgrounds, and life experiences, including families, individuals, employees, retirees, and youth – help foster a welcoming, inclusive, and thriving Northumberland County for residents and visitors alike; and
Whereas Northumberland County benefits greatly from the dedication of volunteers who support key County programs and services, including the County Archives and Museum, the Food 4 All Warehouse, Waste initiatives, the Golden Plough Lodge, and stewardship of the Northumberland County Forest; and
Whereas National Volunteer Week provides an opportunity to acknowledge, celebrate, and thank volunteers whose commitment and generosity help a stronger more connected community;
Now Therefore Be It Resolved That I, Warden Robert Crate, on behalf of Northumberland County Council do hereby proclaim April 19 – 26, 2026 to be ‘National Volunteer Week’ in Northumberland County.”
