Proclamation – Local Government Week, October 18 to 24, 2026

“Whereas The province of Ontario has proclaimed October 18 – 24, 2026 as Local Government Week, providing an opportunity to recognize the important contributions of municipal government and the people who work to serve our communities; and

Whereas municipalities are responsible for delivering a broad range of essential services and programs that support well-being, safety, prosperity, and quality of life of residents; and

Whereas municipal government is the level of government most directly connected to the everyday experiences of residents, making decisions that influence local infrastructure, community development, public spaces, and the services people rely upon each day; and

Now Therefore Be It Resolved That I, Warden Robert Crate, on behalf of Northumberland County Council do hereby proclaim October 18 to 24, 2026 to be ‘Local Government Week’ in Northumberland County.”
