Proclamation – BeADonor Month, April 2026

“Whereas BeADonor Month supports organ and tissue donor registration; and

Whereas over 1,600 people in Ontario are currently waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant, and every three days  someone dies because they did not get their transplant in time; and

Whereas only 35% of eligible Ontarians have registered their consent to donate; and

Whereas everyone is a potential organ and tissue donor, regardless of age or medical condition; one organ donor can save up to eight lives and enhance the lives of up to 75 more through the gift of tissue;

Now Therefore Be It Resolved That I, Warden Robert Crate, on behalf of Northumberland County Council do hereby proclaim the month of April, 2026 as “BeADonor Month”, in Northumberland County, and encourage all citizens to learn more about organ and tissue donation and transplantation.”
