Tail-Wagging Success: Paramedic fundraising activities like 2026 Therapy Dog Calendar generate over $1,200 in donations
Cobourg, ON – February 2, 2026 – Over $1,200 has been raised for local charities through Northumberland Paramedic-led fundraising including sales of the 2026 Paramedic Therapy Dog Calendar, as well as activities like staff dress-down days. Northumberland Paramedics and therapy dog Ivy Joules recently visited with Cornerstone Family Violence Prevention Centre and Northumberland Humane Society staff to distribute funds raised—50 per cent to each organization—supporting critical local programs for families and animals in need.
“Our team is incredibly thankful for the support of the community in making the 2026 Paramedic Therapy Dog Calendar a success,” states Chief Susan Brown. “We are especially grateful to the paramedics who donated to these causes through their dress-down days, and to Jill from Sit and Paws Studio, who generously donated her time to capture the photos of Ivy, with assistance from Superintendent Giselle Lech.”
The 12-month calendar showcases light-hearted and seasonal images of Ivy Joules, the Northumberland Paramedics’ beloved therapy dog. More than 120 calendars were purchased during a limited pre-sale window, contributing significantly to overall funds raised.
Chief Brown continues: “We chose to donate the proceeds to Cornerstone and the Northumberland Humane Society because of Ivy’s strong connection to both teams – as a therapy dog and as a symbol of strength and compassion. Each calendar sold represents a meaningful connection between our paramedic service and the community, and a shared commitment to supporting animals and families in need. It is a privilege to give back to organizations providing such vital services.”
Funds provided to Cornerstone Family Violence prevention Centre will assist in the delivery of programs and services for individuals and families seeking safety and support.
“We are grateful to the Northumberland Paramedics and to Ivy for choosing to support Cornerstone through this meaningful fundraiser,” says Cornerstone Executive Director Nancy Johnston. “Their generosity and commitment to our community truly makes a difference. We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make the fundraiser a success or purchased a calendar, your support has a lasting impact for women and children in Northumberland County. We deeply value our ongoing partnership with the paramedics and Ivy, and are thankful for all that they do each day to support our community.”
The Northumberland Humane Society will use its portion of the proceeds to continue caring for animals and supporting responsible pet ownership across Northumberland.
“We are incredibly grateful to be selected as one of the beneficiaries of the Paramedic Therapy Dog Calendar fundraiser,” said Krystyne Gillespie, community outreach specialist with the Northumberland Humane Society. “The support raised through this campaign will help provide essential care, comfort, and second chances for animals in our community. It’s heartwarming to see Ivy bringing people together and making a real difference for both animals and families across Northumberland County.”
