Event: National Volunteer Week

Date: April 24 to 30, 2022

Whereas over 24 million Canadian volunteers give their time to help others, contributing approximately 5 billion hours per year to volunteer activities; and

Whereas volunteers in Northumberland County mentor children, feed the hungry, comfort the lonely, beautify our green spaces, coach small businesses, and fundraise for local charitable organizations; and

Whereas volunteers in Northumberland County are both young – and young at heart – are families, workers, retirees, and represent all skill sets and backgrounds; and

Whereas the collective result of the work done by our community’s volunteers makes Northumberland County a more desirable place to live, work and visit; and

Whereas the Corporation of the County of Northumberland is fortunate to have wonderful volunteers who contribute to the operations of our Golden Plough Lodge long-term care home, our Food 4 All Warehouse, our Business & Entrepreneurship Centre, our County Archives and Museum, our County Forest and our Waste and Recycling programs; and

Whereas other organizations in Northumberland County rely on the dedication and passion of volunteers;

Now Therefore Be It Resolved That I, Warden Robert Crate, on behalf of Northumberland County Council do hereby proclaim April 24 to 30, 2022 as National Volunteer Week in Northumberland County; and

Further Be It Resolved That I urge our fellow citizens to recognize the crucial role played by volunteers in our community.”

Dated this 20th day of April, 2022

R.J. (Bob) Crate, Warden
