Proclamation – National Nursing Week, May 8-14, 2023

“Whereas, National Nursing Week is an opportunity to recognize the contributions of the nurses who work tirelessly across all health care sectors, including on the front lines in hospitals, long-term care homes, primary care, and those working in the public health community sector, education and research; and

Whereas, the Canadian Nurses Association’s theme for 2023 is Our Nurses, Our Future to showcase the many roles that nurses play in a patient’s health-care journey; and

Whereas, the COVID-19 Pandemic further highlighted the courage and commitment that nurses bring to their work each day and the crucial role that nurses play in our community; and

Whereas, Northumberland County recognizes and thanks its nursing staff at the Golden Plough Lodge long-term care home for their care and dedication in supporting residents to live lives of purpose, choice, dignity, and respect;

Now Therefore it be Resolved That I, Mandy Martin, Warden of The Corporation of the County of Northumberland, do hereby proclaim May 8 to 14, 2023 to be National Nursing Week in Northumberland County and urge all residents to recognize and thank nurses for they essential work they do in caring for our community.”
