Proclamation – National Housing Day, November 22, 2022

“Whereas in Northumberland, there are more than 1,000 households that will wait up to 10 years on the centralized waitlist for subsidized housing, the average rental prices are more expensive than neighbouring communities, and the average resale price is unaffordable to all households outside the 10th income decile; and

Whereas the County recognizes and embraces its integral role as the housing services system manager and is actively working to address the need for increased permanent, safe and affordable housing in Northumberland; and

Whereas November 22 is recognized as National Housing Day across Canada where communities look to raise awareness about the importance of permanent, safe, appropriate and affordable housing in their local communities; and

Now Therefore Be It Resolved That I, Warden Robert Crate, on behalf of Northumberland County Council, do hereby proclaim November 22, 2022 to be National Housing Day in Northumberland County.”
