Event: Black History Month 

Date: February, 2024 

"Whereas February is Black History Month, a time to celebrate and honour the diversity, history and culture of Black Canadians and their many contributions to a thriving and prosperous Canada; and

Whereas Black Canadians have played an instrumental role in the shaping and development of Canada’s heritage and identity, Black History Month is therefore a time to recognize these contributions and to foster belonging and inclusion through continued education of the stories and history of Black Canadians; and

Whereas Northumberland County is committed to fostering a thriving and inclusive community that opposes racial discrimination in all its forms, including working to eliminate discrimination and marginalization often faced by Black Canadians;

Now Therefore Be It Resolved That I, Warden Brian Ostrander, on behalf of Northumberland County Council, do hereby proclaim the month of February 2024 as ‘Black History Month’ in Northumberland County.”
