Cobourg, ON – July 21, 2025 – In another step towards addressing the pressing need for more affordable housing in our community, Northumberland County and Northumberland County Housing Corporation (NCHC) are pleased to announce the Grand Opening of Phase 2 of the Elgin Park redevelopment in Cobourg.
Northumberland County and the NCHC invite members of the media to participate in the unveiling of 20 new rent-geared-to-income and market rental units. In total, by focusing on intensification of an existing property, the Elgin Park Redevelopment initiative has taken the number of subsidized and market rental housing units at this location from 18 to 40.
Officials delivering remarks on the efforts to grow safe, affordable housing in Northumberland will include:
- The Honourable David Piccini, MPP for Northumberland-Peterborough South
- Brian Ostrander, Warden of Northumberland County
- Victor Fiume, Chair, Northumberland County Housing Corporation
Following remarks, guests will have an opportunity to tour a Town Home unit as well as an accessible unit, seeing first-hand how the County and NCHC are increasing the stock of affordable housing in Northumberland to build brighter futures in the community.
