Mock ups of County's new website design on tablet, laptop and mobile phone

Cobourg, ON – October 8, 2025 – Finding information and services from your County just got easier. Northumberland County has launched an updated community website at Northumberland.ca that is modern, user-friendly, and designed to make it easier than ever for residents, businesses, and visitors to connect with the County. Introduction of this new site is a key milestone in the County’s Communications Master Plan and reflects our vision of ‘bringing together people, partnerships and possibilities for a strong and vibrant Northumberland.’

“Our new website is about more than a fresh look—it’s about improving the way people connect with their County government,” says Director of Communications & IT Kate Campbell. “We did extensive user testing to ensure a data-informed layout and navigation system. From better search tools to a more mobile-friendly design, this site was built with the resident experience in mind. We wanted to make it as easy as possible for people to find the information and services they need.”

Highlights of the redesigned website include:

  • A fresh, modern look tied to the County logo, which is inspired by the land and water of our community.
  • Use of vivid imagery that showcases Northumberland’s unique natural heritage as well as the County’s focus on customer service.
  • Simplified navigation and a more intuitive layout, based on extensive user testing, to help people find what they need faster.
  • A powerful new search tool that makes accessing information and services quick and easy.
  • Improved mobile-friendly design, ensuring a smooth experience on phones and tablets.
  • Continued commitment to digital accessibility, so the site works for everyone.

As part of this launch, the County is also unveiling updated dedicated microsites for four services:

These microsites are built on the same platform as the new community site, using a shared content management system to ensure efficient operations while maintaining their own domains and branding. This approach provides a consistent, modern user experience across all sites, ensuring one voice across all County services, while enabling targeted outreach to specific user groups.

The new corporate website supports the County’s commitment to customer service and community engagement by making information easier to find and improving two-way communication. Residents are encouraged to explore the new site at Northumberland.ca and share their feedback to help the County continue improving online services.
