Citizenship Ceremony followed by Diversity Festival and Gourmet Ethno-Food Truck Fair coming to Cobourg

Cobourg, ON – June 16, 2023 – Northumberland County and the Northumberland Hispanic Cultural Club, in partnership with Cameco, invite you to an immersive Canadian multicultural experience. Join us on Saturday, June 24, for a Citizenship Ceremony welcoming newcomers to Canada, followed by a two-day Northumberland Diversity Festival and Ethno-Food Truck Fair, with food and performances from around the globe, from June 24-25.

With Canadian Multicultural Day just around the corner on June 27, this weekend of festivities provides a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the diverse cultures and heritage that enrich our community and country.

The festivities will kick off in Victoria Park, Cobourg on Saturday, June 24 at 9:30 a.m., with a citizenship Ceremony welcoming New Canadians to Northumberland and surrounding communities. Over 40 individuals from countries around the world will gather to take their Oath of Citizenship, marking their final step in becoming Canadian citizens.

Following the ceremony, a lively two-day community festival will take place in Victoria Park, showcasing the importance of inclusion and diversity in fostering a vibrant and thriving Northumberland.

On Saturday, from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., enjoy free cultural entertainment and musical performances, and engaging children’s activities. Additionally, savour the flavours of gourmet ethno-food trucks, available for purchase from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The celebrations will continue on Sunday, with the Diversity Festival FUSION Concert taking place from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Victoria Park bandshell. The concert will blend sounds from various music genres, featuring performances by Nagata Shachu and Luciano Lu and his Brazilian Band.

The Diversity Festival and Gourmet Ethno-Food Truck Fair are made possible through the generous support of Cameco, the Province of Ontario, Heritage Canada, The Kawartha Pine Ridge Elementary Teachers Federation, Willow Printing and Publishing, and the Regional Tourism Organization 8 for the Kawartha and Northumberland area.
