Northumberland County Council is comprised of the elected mayors of each of the seven towns, townships and municipalities within its boundaries. The Warden is the head of County Council and is elected each year from amongst Council’s membership.

Northumberland County Council has established six Standing Committees. Standing Committee meetings will be held each month in advance of monthly meetings of County Council. Please note that committee recommendations are not final decisions and that all committee recommendations must go to Council for adoption.

The Northumberland Accessibility Advisory Committee (NAAC) is a citizen-based committee that provides advice, recommendations and support to County Council and all County departments regarding the development, implementation, maintenance of the County’s Accessibility Plan in accordance with the AODA. The NAAC advise on the identification, removal, and prevention of barriers to people with disabilities when accessing County goods, services and facilities.
