County Land Use Planning was established in 2014 with the adoption of the first Northumberland County Official Plan. We work collaboratively with local municipalities, the province and the public to create vibrant and sustainable communities throughout Northumberland.


County Land Use Planning services include:

  • Implementing and updating the Northumberland County Official Plan;
  • Approving local municipal official plans and amendments;
  • Subdivision approval in Alnwick/Haldimand, Cramahe, and Hamilton Township;
  • Reviewing local municipal planning applications;
  • Providing planning services to local municipalities;
  • Providing planning advice to County Council
