Potential Canada Post Labour Disruption

In the event of a Canada Post Labour Disruption as early as October 22, residents and community partners are encouraged to take note of the alternate options for:

  • Community & Social Services payments information
  • Appearances in Provincial Court, or related court system payments and correspondence

Community & Social Services

A disruption in mail service could mean a delay in the delivery of Ontario Works (OW) payments.

  • Payments made through Direct Deposit will not be impacted. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to set up Direct Deposit into your bank account for OW payments. For your convenience, we have enclosed the necessary form, which can be delivered back to our office along with a void cheque. Paper statements confirming the deposit into your account will be held at our office until mail service resumes.

  • Only in the event of a labour disruption: If you choose to continue receiving your payments by cheque, these will be mailed out on schedule, however delivery may be delayed in the event of rotating strikes. If you wish to make arrangements to pick-up your cheque, please contact your caseworker as soon as possible to discuss.

We continue to encourage clients to contact the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) System at 1-800-808-2268 to confirm that their payment has been issued prior to contacting the office.
